Representatives’ Activity Plan for University Chapters
YLWA/LSW/UC/2026/003 · November 6, 2026
Download the notification (PDF)The official Representatives’ Activity Plan for University Chapters is formally announced and comes into effect from 6 November 2026, for the information of all University Chapter leadership and members of the Young Lawyers Welfare Alliance (YLWA).
Every activity in this Plan advances a pillar of the YLWA Manifesto — welfare, legal education, professional development, and the rule of law. Representatives are not asked to do everything at once; they are asked to build a steady rhythm on their campus.
Coordination and Leadership
All University Chapter leadership arrange, maintain, and oversee these activities under their own stewardship. Members reach out to their Campus President and General Secretary for day-to-day coordination and guidance. Difficulties that cannot be resolved at chapter level go to the Federal Director, Law Students Wing, who coordinates directly with the President — and the President’s door remains open to every member, on any matter.
Your Standing Mandate
- Be the face of YLWA on your campus — the first point of contact for every law student.
- Grow the Alliance — recruit members and keep them engaged.
- Carry information both ways — bring YLWA to the campus, and campus concerns back to the National Wing.
- Uphold our character — strictly non-political, inclusive, and respectful in everything you do.
Weekly Activities — build the habit
Share & amplify
Post every official YLWA update to your story and campus groups; add the ready caption we provide.
Listen
Speak with at least 3–5 students — note their concerns, questions, and ideas.
One post of value
Share one useful item: an internship, a scholarship, a case summary, a skill tip, a deadline.
Stay in touch
Keep an open line with your members — note what happened, what’s next, and what the chapter needs.
Monthly Activities — one flagship action
Aim for one substantial activity each month, rotating across the pillars so your chapter stays balanced.
Legal Education
Host one session — a webinar, study circle, or a senior’s guest talk (online is fine).
Skills
Run a practical workshop — legal research, drafting, moot practice, or CV & interview prep.
Welfare
Hold a wellbeing or peer-support sitting; raise one student-welfare issue with the administration.
Membership drive
A stall, class announcement, or orientation talk to enrol new members.
Rule of law
Mark a national/international legal day with a short talk, post, or awareness activity.
The Monthly Chapter Meeting
One meeting a month (in person or online), short and minuted:
- Review what the chapter did last month;
- Plan the next flagship activity and assign roles;
- Collect concerns to escalate to the National Wing;
- Welcome and brief any new members.
Monthly Reporting
Each month, the Campus President and General Secretary of every University Chapter submit a report of their chapter’s activities to the Federal Director, Law Students Wing. The Federal Law Students Wing compiles these reports and publishes them on the official YLWA website, so that the work of every chapter is recognised and placed on record.
Mapping to the Manifesto
| Pillar | How your activity serves it |
|---|---|
| Welfare | Peer support, welfare issues raised, an inclusive campus community. |
| Legal Education | Sessions, study circles, shared learning resources. |
| Professional Development | Skills workshops, mentorship links, opportunity-sharing. |
| Rule of Law | Awareness activities and a generation that values justice. |
Simple Rules That Protect YLWA
- Stay non-political — no party, no partisan content, ever.
- Represent, don’t rival — respect faculty, the administration, and senior lawyers.
- Check before you speak for YLWA — clear any public statement or event with your coordinator.
- Be inclusive — every student is welcome, without exception.
- Credit is earned by work — those who serve sincerely will rise in the Alliance.
What “Good” Looks Like in a Month
- Every official post shared promptly to your campus;
- A handful of new members enrolled;
- One flagship activity delivered;
- One chapter meeting held and minuted;
- A monthly report submitted to the Federal Director, Law Students Wing.
Start small, stay consistent. A chapter that does a little every week will outgrow one that waits for the perfect event.This is your Alliance — led by you.
